A couple years back, I used to have a personal blog. One of the posts I had written at the time was concerning a certain gentleman from Florida named José Luis De Jesus Miranda. I haven’t looked this guy up for awhile and I haven’t heard much recently so I was hoping that maybe he just went away.
In case you have never heard of him, “Dr.” Miranda claims to be the second coming of Christ. He officially calls himself “Jesus Christ Man” or “The Man Christ Jesus.” Jesus he is pictured below.
Now most Christians or anyone with a basic knowledge of the Bible–who haven’t heard of this guy–might question why there is a “666″ next to him if he’s Jesus. I mean, if he’s “Jesus Christ Man.” Well you see, the good doctor instructs his followers that 666, yes, does mean “anti-Christ” but it means the Jesus after Jesus of Nazareth. Confused yet? Dr. Miranda has somehow twisted the Bible around to show his followers that they are to look to him, not the first Jesus of Nazareth.
I guess I should apologize. This guy is so twisted I cannot even intelligently explain him. I’ll let you visit his site, Growing In Grace Ministries, or “God’s government on earth.” Yes, that’s what the header section of his site says: “God’s government on earth.” For the life of me, I cannot figure out how anyone who does even a cursory reading of just the New Testament can attend his services and not scratch their heads.
He quotes plenty of scriptures from the Bible which is nice. But I think he’s going to have a difficult time finding the prophecies related to Jesus coming back as a former heroin addict, from Puerto Rico and living in Florida. I could have sworn I read somewhere that Jesus was coming “on the clouds of heaven” at His Second Coming. Maybe Dr. Miranda thought that the “clouds of heaven” were clouds of crack smoke? I’m not sure.
But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be maligned; and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep. –2 Peter 2:1-3.
Have we learned nothing from and since Jonestown circa November 1978?
May He (Jesus of Nazareth, the Almighty, the Eternal, the One True God) Increase!
Wow, this is really sad. It shows that some people don’t really know what the Bible says, and they can be misled so easily. Something needs to be done about the Biblical literacy in this country!

Biblical illiteracy–in my humble opinion–is going to be the downfall of this country. What’s so scary is that his own followers–had they sat down and just read their Bibles–should start questioning what their pastor is saying. There is absolutely no reason why this guy should be having the success he’s having (the devil notwithstanding).

Honestly, I had hoped this guy would have gone away because he’s laughable (if I may use that word in this circumstance). Everything he says contradicts Scripture. But Jesus foretold of bozos like this long ago. To wit:
Matthew 7:15 – Wolves in sheep’s clothing
Matthew 24:11 – Many will arise and lead many astray
Matthew 24:24 – They will use great signs and wonders and lead many astray
Mark 13:22 – Same as Matthew 24:24
2 Corinthians 11:13 – “For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.”
On and on. We need to keep the members of his flock in prayer that their eyes would be opened. We already know what will come of him. No one blasphemes the name of God and twists His Word they way Miranda does and gets away with it for very long. We should pray for God to be merciful to Him as well.
I’ll be checking in on him from time to time. But part of my reservation is that I don’t want to give him any more publicity than he deserves. It’s my hope that someone considering him sees my posts and goes to the Word to see that Miranda is a liar, a false prophet, and a deceitful worker.

You have no idea. One of the YouTube videos out there detail all the stats of his television and satellite network. In fact, there is a YouTube audio interview someone from South Africa did with him. Just Google video his name and it should pop up.
Ordinarily, I’d personally just write the guy off as a fruit-cake. But I would venture to guess he has more followers than Jim Jones ever did because of the technology available today. This guy has international reach as well. Although he and I live in the United States where we have freedom of religion, this guy needs to be stopped before history gets repeated.
