Friday Link Love! Episode 1

Posted By Joe on March 27, 2009

I've been blessed with a number of friends now in the blogging community. I've also been blessed with finding some really great blogs as well.

So I think I'm going to start a new, regular Friday feature: "Friday Link Love!" None of these are in any particular order.

  1. John Piper explains how, as you mature in your Christian walk, your sorrow increases as well as your joy.
  2. Jerald has a great post on the "Three Who Would Follow" Christ, but thought they were getting something much different than they expected.
  3. Bino suggests that we "Be Weak!"
  4. Over at Shane Vander Hart's Caffeinated Thoughts, he has--in my opinion--the most honest and intelligently written post on Christians & Alcohol that I've ever read.
  5. Patrick Archbold of Creative Minority Report, has been doing a series called "March to Madness." Seemingly a spin-off a basketball playoff scenario, as of yesterday it was in the Championship round of "The Top 64 People Destroying Our Culture." Who are the two in the championship? Click on the link and check it out.
  6. As much as I love these guys, DefCon frequently has posts that just make me cringe! "You Deserve the Best" is no exception. I'm begging them to tell me that this is a mock-up or a fake.
  7. My family has always been fond of Greg Laurie. We--like so many others--were heartbroken over his son's death. He has a new Thursday night service here in Orange County. Richard Abanes attended a recent service and gave this review.
  8. I love Mark Gungor. I saw him on TBN a while back and now he has a regular spot called "Marriage, Love and Stinking Thinking." Not only is he hilarious, but he's got relationship issues boiled down. Check out "Not Your Mother" and you'll see what I mean.
  9. My brother Willis Hapeman over at Willohroots has a great post on Anger Management.
  10. Just like the folks over at DefCon, I usually find something that gets under my skin at HiScrivener's The Writing On The Wall. This time is was Merriam-Webster's decision to change the defnition of marriage.
  11. Lastly, of late I've posted on several blogs about "delayed justice" but also that God is the perfect avenger. After all, vengeance is His! Yesterday, I read something that was really creepy. It's a bad word to use, really, but go check out the story on "...you did not hate bloodshed, bloodshed will pursue you" over at ProLifeBlogs.com. I think you'll see what I mean. For reference: Ezekiel 35:6.

      Jon,

Thanks for stopping by. It may be awhile before I get to Minnesota, but I'll definitely let you know if I'm there!

      Have great weekend.

  2. Thanks for those links.
And the descriptions; so many people - and I am guilty of it - depend on a single phrase or the post/article's title to convey the description.

Thanks Joe for all the interesting links. I visited Shane's blog first because three years ago I decided to completely abstain from all alcohol. After reading the very well written article.......I'm feeling a little thirsty!

Since I live in the cities, Home of John Piper, I am very familiar with him. You should check out Tim Keller too. Keller is my favorite author and is on several Desiring God videos of Pipers. Piper speaks mostly to my head but Keller speaks to both my heart and my head.

Hey, thanks for the link love to Mark and our blog! Since you mentioned the tv show, I thought I'd let you know we do have a second site for the TV show at http://www.stinkingthinking.tv if you haven't seen it.

    • Joe says:

Andrew! Thank you so much for stopping by. I'm honored! Please tell Mark (if possible) I love what he's doing. I would love to attend one of his workshops next time he's in Southern CA. I'll also check out the link to the TV site.

  6. Jerald says:

Joe, thanks for the plug. I like some of the same folks as you do. And some of the others . . .I'll be sure to check them out too.

  7. willoh says:

Thanks for putting me on the list! Joe , I thought Friday link love would be about sausage, but this was better. I am going to visit your friends now, thanks again.

    • Joe says:

Will, it was my pleasure to include you. I know the tone of the "Anger Management" post wasn't frivolity, but I had to chuckle at your sense of humor. It was a post worthy of some "link love!"

And I apologize for misleading you about what it meant, being a great sausage lover myself. Actually...I'm really hungry now. ;-)

      Thanks for stopping by!
