When you take a stand for Christ, be prepared that Satan is not going to be happy nor take it lying down. James tells us to “resist the devil and he will flee from you” in James 4:7, but that’s the second part of the verse. Here is the entire verse:
Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. –James 4:7.
Unless you submit to God, you’re going to have a tough time resisting the devil, his lies and his deceptions. Remember, this is a spiritual battle we are in.
King David, was in many battles in his life. He fought Goliath and even had to defend himself from his son, Absalom, who rebelled against him. Psalm 3 describes David’s encouragement by submitting to God. Without first submitting to God, David may not have fared so well in any of his battles and struggles.
O Lord, how my adversaries have increased! Many are rising up against me. Many are saying of my soul, “There is no deliverance for him in God.” Selah. But You, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, and the One who lifts my head. I was crying to the Lord with my voice, and He answered me from His holy mountain. Selah. I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord sustains me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me round about. Arise, O Lord; save me, o my God! For you have smitten all my enemies on the cheek; you have shattered the teeth of the wicked. Salvation belongs to the Lord; your blessing be upon your people! Selah. –Psalm 3.
Submit to God. Let Him fight your battles, which often start in the mind. Let Him be your shield.
May He Increase!
