When the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more. But the righteous has an everlasting foundation. –Proverbs 10:25
The whirlwinds of life will eventually come and test the house of your heart and spirit. When they do, what is your “house” built upon?
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it has been founded on the rock. Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell–and great was its fall.” –Matthew 7:24-27.
Build your “house” upon the Word of God. When those storms and whirlwinds come–and they eventually will–you will not be moved!
May He Increase!

“The one true goal or resting place where doubt and weariness, the stings of a pricking conscience and the longings of an unsatisfied soul would all be quieted is Christ himself. Not the church, but Christ. Not doctrine, but Christ. Not forms, but Christ. Not ceremonies, but Christ. Christ, the God-man, giving his life for ours, sealing the everlasting covenant and making peace for us through the blood of his cross. Christ the divine storehouse of all light and truth, ‘in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.’ Christ the infinite vessel, filled with the Holy Spirit, the Enlightener, the Teacher, the Comforter, so that ‘of his fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace.’ This, this alone, is the vexed soul’s refuge, its rock to build on, its home to abide in, till the great tempter be bound and every conflict ended in victory.”
Horatius Bonar, Words to Winners of Souls, page 11.
Amen!
Thank you, Ike.
There’s another thing that Jesus said that relate to this post – “These things I have spoken to you so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
Jesus knew that we would have tribulation and the Apostle Paul wrote about it too. I believe that if we don’t prepare the body for tribulation, we will be missing what we’ve been told to do and will be remiss in our mandate to make disciples.
Jerald,
Thanks for stopping by and adding John 16:33. I agree with you and you brought up a very great point. We are commanded to make disciples which is very distinctive. Thank you for pointing that out.
Have a terrific weekend.
Joe.
Joe,
Thanks for your faithfulness to spread the Word. I need all the wisdom I can get.
Shalom,
Jeff
Like iron sharpening iron! I’ve learned much from you as well, Jeff! :-)
