Words for the Wise – No. 5

wisdom-of-solomonDuring these difficult economic times–or so the media says–I think it’s important to reflect on what Solomon said:

Better is a little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure and turmoil with it. Better is a dish of vegetables where love is than a fattened ox and hatred with it. –Proverbs 15:16-17.

There is much truth in this because it seems when financial troubles come, marriages will sometimes be tested, stress levels go up, and turmoil results. Let us remember to give our struggles to God, lay them at the foot of the cross.

Therefore, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. –1 Peter 5:6-7.

May He Increase!

It’s interesting that Solomon had worldly riches beyond our imagination and yet in the end he says, “Vanity….vanity…..all is vanity.”

If I had the choice I think I’d take Solomon’s riches…….but the Lord must see that I can’t be trusted. Hmm? No wonder Publisher’s Clearing House hasn’t come to my door!

I hear ya Joe…..all they need is your account number for the transfer! I’m pretty stupid but not quite that stupid. BTW………whats your account number again?
