Words for the Wise – No. 11

wisdom-of-solomonI’ve got call-in jury duty this week. I’ve had jury duty lots of times but I have never been called to sit on one. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever actually been called into the courtroom for screening.

My employer pays for jury duty so if I do get called, it’s not that big of a deal. But I must admit, I don’t really want to serve on a jury. I’m not sure why. Probably because I have never done it before. Either way, it’s in God’s hands this week.

So, in honor of my jury duty service, I wanted to share something from the Word as it relates to law.

Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law strive with them. Evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the Lord understand all things. –Proverbs 28:4-5.

All of us have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). But thankfully, Jesus came to fulfill the law and take upon Himself the sin of the world that we may be reconciled to our Creator. May we live out His example and seek justice for those who are denied it.

May He Increase!

If you told them you authored this blog you might be excused!!!
What comedian said that a jury was that group of people to slow to get out of jury duty? I always wanted to be on a jury, but never got called. It will be interesting if you decide to share with us parts of the experience. God bless and be His witness.

I’ve gotten numerous summons and have sat in the waiting room every time. One time I was called to a courtroom but the parties settled just before. So I’ve yet to go through the selection process at this point. This time I’m on call-in. I didn’t get called in yesterday so I have to call again today. We’ll see what happens.

I went one time……a child molester. I was not a happy camper when they did a plea deal. I heard Ted Nuggent say that if he walked in and found someone molesting a child he would shoot them in the head. He backed that up with……..I believe in dead offenders not repeat offenders. Personally……I think every state should have a mandatory 25 year sentence for first time offenders.

Forgetting the child molesters……..I’m sure glad the Lord accepts repeat sinners!!!
