The Bible is a prophetic book. Seems like an obvious statement to most people, doesn’t it?
There are some wonderful gems that I think we all over look in our Bible reading. One that I recently became aware of is found in Hosea. It concerns one of the triggering events of Jesus’ Second Coming.
I will go away and return to My place until they acknowledge their guilt and seek My face; in their affliction they will earnestly seek Me. –Hosea 5:15.
This is God speaking. If God says that He will “return to My place,” it follows that He must have left it. That was His first coming 2,000 years ago.
What happened when Jesus first came to earth? On the very day that He presented Himself as the Messiah, He told the people:
“If you had known in this day, even you, the things which make for peace! But now they have been hidden from your eyes.” –Luke 19:42.
Jesus held them accountable to know Daniel 9:26!
He also told the people:
“I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, you will receive him.” –John 5:43.
Back to the Hosea passage, the verse says that God will return to His place (heaven) until they acknowledge their guilt. The “they” is Israel. The affliction that the verse is speaking of is the Great Tribulation. After those three and a half years, when they are pushed to their limits, they will repent and seek the return of Jesus, the Meshiach Nagid, the Messiah the King! Then Jesus will return for the Second Coming and save His people and set up the Millennial Kingdom here on earth.
It’s so exciting to me to find those wonderful gems in God’s Word.
Have you run across something in the Bible that jumped out at you? Is there something that you have passed over before and then read it as if for the first time?
May He Increase!
