Today is day two of the Christian remembrance of Holy Week. We look back on the 11th of Nisan 32 A.D. when Jesus entered Jerusalem and purified the Temple.
This week we’re looking back on the Holy Week Series from 2009.
Monday: 11th of Nisan 32 A.D.
The day after Jesus entered Jerusalem on a donkey, in fulfillment of Zechariah 9:9, Jesus went up to the Temple to purify it. This was the well-known scene of Jesus and the moneychangers.
One point I’d like to add that I missed in my original post last year, was the picture of this scene and how it relates to the Jewish custom of cleaning the house of all leaven. I’m grateful to my brother Jeff Musgrave at Jeofurry’s Jesus Journey for the insight.
Pastor Shane Womack of KACC asked us this past weekend to slow down this week and call to mind what we are celebrating and remembering. He suggested at least a day-time fast and prayer.
I’d like to reiterate this myself. Considering what occurred on the 11th of Nisan, may we all search ourselves for that hidden leaven of sin within ourselves. May we confess it and bring it to the cross.
May He Increase!
