Eight Things God Hates

We sometimes forget that God isn’t just about blessing us all the time. As much as God loves us, there are certain things that God actually hates.

That might be hard for some to accept, the concept of God actually hating. But it’s there in at least two books of the Bible. The most commonly known ones are found in Proverbs and Malachi.

  1. A proud look (Proverbs 6:17)
  2. A lying tongue (Proverbs 6:17)
  3. Hand that shed innocent blood (Proverbs 6:17)
  4. A heart that devises wicked plans (Proverbs 6:18)
  5. Feet that are swift in running to evil (Proverbs 6:18)
  6. A false witness who speaks lies (Proverbs 6:19)
  7. One who sows discord among brethren (Proverbs 6:19)
  8. Divorce (Malachi 2:16)

Sadly, I recognize a number of these in my life from time-to-time. We must always be mindful of these and bring them to the foot of the cross in brokenness and humility and ask for forgiveness. Although God hates the sin behind these, He loves us more. Don’t forget that.

God hates sin. But He loves you (John 3:16).

May He Increase!
