title="Fireproof The Movie" href="http://www.fireproofthemovie.com/" target="_blank">Fireproof.” I had vaguely heard of the movie and wasn’t really interested in seeing it. I knew it was a Christian movie and starred Kirk Cameron. But I had thought it was a “chick-flick” and well, I didn’t feel like sitting through one this night. Let me just say, though, that I cry just as easily as the next guy and I do like emotional movies. I like the cinematic experience of feeling the range of emotions. I guess you can say it’s purifying for me.

I’ve seen a number of movies either made by Christians, or have a Christian message, or have spiritual overtones. Of the ones I’ve seen, a majority of them just seem to have stilted or corny dialog and the acting is sub-par. It upsets me sometimes because I think if you’re going to have a movie to get the Christian message across, why can it be high-quality?

I don’t want this post to turn into a movie review because I’m no critic. And while “Fireproof” did have some stilted dialog and preachy grand-standing, I actually enjoyed the movie very much. Obviously, with Kirk Cameron in the lead, you know you’ll be watching a Christian movie and in that regard, that was just fine my me. At least I knew I wouldn’t have to worry about being bombarded with foul language, etc. I found myself being teary eyed about half-way through the movie.

What I liked about it was that it’s one of those movies that reminds you of priorities. It caused me to look at the job I’m doing as a husband (and even a son). If you haven’t seen it yet, I would definitely put it on your “to rent” list.

Ironically enough, at today’s services, the message was from Malachi and it dealt with divorce and the marriage covenant.

Praise be to God that He has blessed me with a wonderful wife. May He continue to work on me and teach me to continually become a better husband.

<img
