I’ve seen a number of movies either made by Christians, or have a Christian message, or have spiritual overtones. Of the ones I’ve seen, a majority of them just seem to have stilted or corny dialog and the acting is sub-par. It upsets me sometimes because I think if you’re going to have a movie to get the Christian message across, why can it be high-quality?

I don’t want this post to turn into a movie review because I’m no critic. And while “Fireproof” did have some stilted dialog and preachy grand-standing, I actually enjoyed the movie very much. Obviously, with Kirk Cameron in the lead, you know you’ll be watching a Christian movie and in that regard, that was just fine my me. At least I knew I wouldn’t have to worry about being bombarded with foul language, etc. I found myself being teary eyed about half-way through the movie.

What I liked about it was that it’s one of those movies that reminds you of priorities. It caused me to look at the job I’m doing as a husband (and even a son). If you haven’t seen it yet, I would definitely put it on your “to rent” list.

Ironically enough, at today’s services, the message was from Malachi and it dealt with divorce and the marriage covenant.

Praise be to God that He has blessed me with a wonderful wife. May He continue to work on me and teach me to continually become a better husband.
